JackHammers Acquire Colton, Dahman in Separate Deals

JOLIET, IL - The Joliet JackHammers announced today that the club acquired outfielder Chris Colton from the Wichita Wingnuts and right-hander reliever Kyle Dahman from Kansas City in separate deals for players to be named later. Joliet also sent outfielder Justin Justice to Winnipeg for a player to be named later.

Colton, 27, comes to the JackHammers after starting the year with Wichita in the American Association. The Georgia native appeared in 31 games for the Wingnuts, batting .270 with two home runs, eight runs batted in and six steals.

The former 15th round pick by Seattle in the 2001 draft spent last season playing for Chad Parker with the River City Rascals in the Frontier League. Colton had career highs in home runs (18), RBI (69), walks (60) and stolen bases (34). He was selected to the 2009 Frontier League All-Star game and helped guide the team to a West Division title.

Colton was in the Mariners' organization from 2002-2007, reaching as high as Inland Empire (A+). He began his independent career with the Macon Music in the South Coast League in 2007 and played for Wichita in 2008.

Dahman, 25, is in his second professional season out of the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The right-hander was 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA in eight games out of the bullpen for the T-Bones. He racked up nine strikeouts in 12 innings of work.

The Kansas City, Missouri native spent 2009 with the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League. Kyle appeared in ten games (seven starts) for the Otters and struck out 36 batters in 38.2 innings.
