SCHAUMBURG, IL - Dustin Glant tossed a complete game shutout and Joe Gomes collected three hits as the Schaumburg Flyers (9-21) shut down the Joliet JackHammers (14-15) 2-0 Monday night at Alexian Field. Glant and Ross Stout each threw a complete game in a pitcher's duel that lasted two hours and seven minutes.

Gomes plated the first run for Schaumburg in the first on a single up the middle, scoring Brandon Newton who doubled to start the frame. The Flyers managed another tally in the fourth on a Andre Marshall solo home run for the 2-0 final.

That was all the support Glant (3-1) needed as the right-hander scattered five hits over the nine innings. The JackHammers had an opportunity to tie the game in the ninth. Roberto Mena singled and Brad Correll reached on a fielder's choice. Kevin Rios slapped a single to left to put runners at first and second with two outs. Glant would recover, striking out Jon Nelson to end the game.

Glant walked only one and struck out seven in the game and at one point retired 14 straight hitters.

Stout (2-3) was the tough luck loser, tossing his second straight complete game allowing only two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in eight innings.

Freddie Thon led the JackHammers with two hits and Gomes singled three times with Tommy Fitzgerald adding two base hits.

The JackHammers will turn to Todd Privett (2-2) tomorrow night on the bump. Todd Moser (1-4) takes the mound for Schaumburg. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. with a 6:50 p.m. pre-game show on 1340 WJOL.

Loose Gravel:

- Newly acquired centerfielder, Chris Colton, went 0-2 with a walk, but did make a great catch against the wall in the 8th inning

- Brad Correll saw his hitting streak come to an end at six games

- The JackHammers were shut out for only the second time this season
