
Jackets Win Third Straight Game over Power

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 34-17) won their third straight game over the West Virginia Power (32-37, 34-18) with a 4-2 win on Wednesday. Starter T.J. Brewer recorded the win and Juan Ciriaco had three hits and drove in a run to pace the offense.
Augusta took the early lead in the first inning when Ciriaco scored on Dayton Buller's two-out RBI single. Ciriaco reached on a two-out single then moved to second on a stolen base to set up Buller.
The GreenJackets made it 2-0 in the fifth inning when Shane Jordan scored on a fielding error from center-fielder Logan Schafer on a ball hit by Ciriaco.
West Virginia broke up the shutout in the sixth inning on a two-out RBI single from Steffan Wilson to chase Brewer from the game.
Brewer (8-4) worked 5.2 innings allowing four hits, two walks and striking out six.
Augusta got the run right back in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI triple from Andrew Davis after Angel Villalona led off the half inning with a single.
The GreenJackets pushed the lead to 4-1 when Ciriaco collected his third hit of the night driving in Jordan from third base.
The Power cut the lead in half in the eighth inning on an RBI ground from Wilson off reliever Wilmin Rodriguez but that was all West Virginia would get.
Rodriguez worked 2.1 innings allowing two hits, a walk and striking out three.
David Mixon picked up his third save of the season with a perfect ninth inning striking out one.
The GreenJackets and Power finish up their series on Thursday with Augusta sending right-hander Oliver Odle (9-5, 3.99) to the mound as Augusta looks for the four game sweep. The Power counters with right-hander Michael Bowman (2-1, 4.50). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
Game Notes:
The GreenJackets improved to 41-21 at home this season, 21-6 in the second half.
The GreenJackets have a 4.5 game lead in the Southern Division.
Nick Noonan had his hit streak snapped at 10 games finishing 0-for-3
Augusta won its first series against West Virginia since June of 2006
The GreenJackets improved to a season high 30 games over the .500 mark.
Augusta won its 18th series of the season.
Augusta stole four bases in the game.
