
Jackets Win Streak Snapped by Braves

Rome, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 23-12) had their five game win streak snapped by the Rome Braves (22-47, 16-19) on Saturday night with an 8-4 loss. Wilmin Rodriguez suffered the loss in relief and Augusta lost to the Braves for the first time in nine games.
The Braves snapped a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning with a two-out, two-run single from Freddie Freeman off of Rodriguez.
Rodriguez (1-1) started the seventh inning getting two outs but allowed two runs on two hits while walking two. Rodriguez got the first batter he faced with a strikeout.
The Braves added two more runs in the eighth inning for an 8-4 lead on back-to-back two-out hits from Samuel Sime and CJ Lee.
Augusta trailed 1-0 after the second inning when the Braves Adam Coe led off with a triple then scored when Cody Johnson followed with an RBI single.
Starter Craig Clark went on to retire the next 12 batters in a row before allowing a base hit to lead off the sixth inning. Clark worked 5.2 innings allowing three runs on five hits for the no-decision. Clark did not walk a batter and struck out four.
Augusta took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning with two outs on a two-run double from Garrett Baker and an RBI double from Andrew Davis.
The Braves reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI sac-fly to left from Jason Heyward and a two-out, two run single from Matt Kennely for a 4-3 lead.
David Mixon suffered his second blown save of the season allowing one run in the sixth inning on two hits while walking one.
Augusta tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh inning on a two-out RBI single from Nick Noonan.
The GreenJackets and Braves continue their series Sunday with Augusta sending right-hander Oliver Odle (8-4, 3.86) to the mound. The Braves send lefty Edgar Osuna (4-4, 3.67) to the hill. First pitch is at 2:00 p.m.
