Charleston RiverDogs News Release
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Charleston RiverDogs fell behind by seven runs to the Augusta GreenJackets after the first five innings and were unable to come back, as they lost 7-2 in the series opener Thursday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
After two and a half scoreless innings, the GreenJackets (31-34 second half, 64-70 overall) plated four runs in the bottom of the third. T. Relaford scored the first run of the game on a detached equipment violation by the catcher Radley Haddad. Dylan Davis drove in two more with a single to score and scored himself on a sacrifice fly by Matt.
Augusta added to their lead two innings later. With the bases loaded and no outs, Chase Compton greeted relief pitcher Philip Walby with a two-run double to left to make it 6-0. Winn was then hit by a pitch and Chuckie Jones grounded into a fielder's choice to plate Davis.
The RiverDogs (29-37, 63-73) got on the board in the sixth. Angel Aguilar and Donny Sands hit back-to-back doubles. Charleston cut Augusta's lead to 7-2 when Griff Gordon scored on a balk by Rodolfo Martinez.
David Palladino (2-7) pitched the first four innings and failed to get an out after pitching to three batters in the fifth inning. He gave up all seven runs, five earned, and took the loss for Charleston. Mark Reyes (9-6) lasted six innings and only gave up one run on three hits to earn the win.
