Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Two Black Hawks scored twice Sunday as Waterloo edged past the pesky Ohio Junior Blue Jackets 5-3.
Five minutes into the opening period, Danny Hobbs' powerplay goal opened to scoring for Ohio. However, late in the first, the Hawks answered when Paul Weisgarber forced a puck free in the Ohio end, setting up Ryan Cramer's first goal. Kyle Reeds would score shortly thereafter and again early in the second on a breakaway created by James Marcou.
Tim Gilbert and Cramer scored within the next two minutes, giving the Hawks a 5-1 lead. Ohio drew back within three before intermission, then Clark MacLean's third period score brought the Blue Jackets within a pair. Ryan Rondeau turned away the rest of Ohio's chances though; he made 26 saves in the win.
The Hawks face Ohio again on Monday night at 6:05. Waterloo is back at Young Arena Friday at 7:05 for a game with the Tri City Storm. The first 1,000 fans at the game will receive the next installment of Black Hawks player cards sponsored by Iwireless.
