WEEK IN REVIEW

Thursday, January 26

Gwinnett 4, Elmira 3

The Arena at Gwinnett Center

Gwinnett tied its season high with three power-play goals on six opportunities, as Elmira's three-game winning streak came to an end in a 4-3 loss at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. The loss was the Jackals' first ever in Duluth, Ga., as the club had won its previous four meetings on the road against the Gladiators. Dustin Gazley posted his fourth-straight multi-point game with two assists, while Craig Rivet notched his second goal as a Jackal.

Saturday, January 28

Gwinnett 4, Elmira 1

The Arena at Gwinnett Center

The Jackals fell behind 2-0 early again to the Gladiators, with Gwinnett scoring twice in the first 9:35 of the opening period. Elmira's Josh Brittain scored for the third-straight game, striking on the power play at 11:17 of the first. Brittain's goal would be the Jackals' only tally, as Elmira managed just 17 shots on Gwinnett goaltender Jeff Jakaitis in the defeat. In the loss, Elmira ceded possession of first place in the conference to both Gwinnett and Greenville, the first time the Jackals were not atop the conference since play began on Dec. 31.

Sunday, January 29

South Carolina 4, Elmira 3 (SO)

North Charleston Coliseum

Former South Carolina Stingray Jordan Pietrus scored a goal in his return to the North Charleston Coliseum as Elmira established a 2-0 second-period lead. The Stingrays fought back with three-consecutive goals, leading 3-2 in the third period when Kyle Reeds tied the game back up, notching his fourth goal of the season and eventually sending the game into overtime. After a scoreless sudden-death period, the Stingrays outscored the Jackals in the shootout, 3-1, and prevailed with a 4-3 victory.

RADJA RIFLES IN ANOTHER SHOOTOUT GOAL AS JACKALS' STREAK ENDS

Mike Radja returned from a two-week stint with Houston in the AHL on Sunday as the Jackals participated in their ninth shootout of the season. Radja rung in his league-leading eighth shootout goal (nine attempts) of the season, firing a puck past Stingray netminder Philipp Grubauer in the second round.

Elmira had won each of its first eight shootouts of the season prior to Sunday's contest and had a nine-game shootout winning streak dating back to Mar. 16 of last season. The Jackals are now 8-1 in shootouts in 2011-2012. The shootout was Jackals netminder Timo Pielmeier's first of 2011-2012.

DIVISION STREAK ON THE LINE AGAIN

Elmira has taken points in each of its last 14 Atlantic Division contests dating back to Nov. 26, with a 13-0-1-0 record during that stretch. The Jackals in this current run are 4-0-1-0 against Reading, 5-0-0-0 versus Trenton, and 4-0-0-0 in games with Wheeling.

Elmira is 16-6-1-0 against Atlantic competition overall in 2011-2012 after starting off the season 3-6-0-0 versus its divisional opponents.
