Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," is scheduled to host "Hockey With Heart" at Stockton Arena on Friday, when the Thunder takes on the Idaho Steelheads at 7:30 p.m.
"Hockey With Heart" is presented by BloodSource in association with Wells Fargo Foundation, Foster Farms Dairy featuring the Crystal Brand and StoneCreek Village.
The new event, hosted by the Thunder to promote heart awareness and benefit the American Heart Association, encourages all fans in attendance at Friday's game to wear red to support "National Wear Red Day" and launch "American Heart Month" and the "Go Red for Women" movement.
"The Stockton Thunder organization and fans look forward to working with the American Heart Association," said Thunder president Dan Chapman. "Collectively our organization and fans have rallied around important causes in the past and now we're excited about raising awareness and funds for the fight against heart disease."
To encourage fitness and a healthy heart, the first 2,000 fans (ages 18 and over) will receive a Thunder equipment bag, suitable for the gym or while on the go.
Go Red Passport Cards will also be given to the first 1,000 fans (ages 18 and over), encouraging fans to visit sponsor tables hosted by Kerry's Sweet Decadence, California Transplant Donor Network, Miracle Mile Reality, Live Well Be Strong, Prime Health and Nutrition, HERLIFE Magazine, H&R Block and St. Joseph's Medical Center. Fans can collect stamps on the passport cards and be entered to win a $500 shopping spree courtesy of Stone Bros. Management ($250 in gift cards to both Sherwood Mall and StoneCreek Village stores), a luxury spa package courtesy of Perfect Balance Day Spa or a gourmet food basket courtesy of HERLIFE Magazine.
Additionally, fans with game tickets are invited to attend a special pre-game "Go Red for Women" Casting Call, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the North Conference Center of Stockton Arena. Fans attending the casting call are encouraged to share their story on heart awareness - whether affected personally or through a loved one - via a videotaping session. Those sharing their story will be entered for a chance to become a Go Red for Women National Spokesperson.
All fans who attend the Casting Call will be offered select wines at $2 per pour from Van Ruiten Family Winery and The McDonald Family Estate and complimentary samples of gourmet cheeses from Fiscalini Farms.
To support "Hockey With Heart," a blood and bone marrow drive will be hosted by SMG-Stockton and in conjunction with BloodSource on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Stockton Arena North Conference Center. All donors will receive a free voucher good for admission to Friday's game, courtesy of the Thunder and Wells Fargo Foundation. Select Thunder players will be on hand during the drive for autographs and photos.
A portion of event proceeds from "Hockey With Heart" will benefit the American Heart Association. Further information on the event can be found at www.stocktonthunder.com/gameday/hockey-with-heart.
