The Jackals moved up to 2nd place in the Eastern Conference with a resounding 6-2 victory over the Flint Generals Saturday night at the First Arena.

The Jackals jumped out to an early first period lead as J.F. Boutin scored his first goal as a member of the Jackals, from Eddy Lowe at 8:35. Jamie Thompson made it 2-0 just 27 seconds later from Trevor Burgess and Don Smith and the Jackals rolled through the first twenty minutes.

In the second frame Elmira their momentum when John DiPace scored a shorthanded goal two and a half minutes in, from Martin Woods and Bobby Reynolds. Flint would silence the crowd on the power play at 7:22 when Leonard Thomas tied it at two. But the Jackals were revived by their player/coach Randy Murphy, who streaked down the left side and unloaded a blistering slap shot that blazed past Flint goaltender Jan Chovan a 3-2 lead and the Jackals first shorthanded goal of the season. Then Elmira took over; Greg Koehler continued his scoring streak at 17:19 with a power play goal from Burgess and Jamie Thompson. Nathan Gillies banged in his sixth goal of the year from Boutin and Smith for a 5-2 lead after two periods.

The Jackals would get one more in the third period from Eddy Lowe, as he buried a twisted wrister past Chovan, unassisted at 2:28 to cap the scoring.
