Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals completed a three-game sweep of the Elmira Pioneers with a 10-1 blowout Sunday afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Jackals have won 11 in a row and 19 out of their last 20. New Jersey (49-18) needs fifteen more wins over the final 23 games to tie the Northern League record for victories at 64.
New Jersey hit Greg Keagle (5-9) early, scoring three runs in the 1st inning. Chas Terni hit his first triple of the season to score Craig Conway. Billy Rich and Ryan Kane contributed RBI singles. The Jackals stretched their lead to 5 with the help of two solo homeruns in the 3rd inning. Mikaela Dworken led off with his 9th homerun of the season and Travis Bailey blasted his 13th to centerfield.
Jeremy Callier (5-1) made a spot start for Joel Bennett, who will start at the All-Star game on Tuesday. He allowed only one run on eight hits through 6th innings. He struck out five and walked none. A.J. Brack, Scott Allan and Chris Humrich combined to shutout the Pioneers to preserve the win.
Offensivley for the Jackals, Craig Conway went 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Chas Terni was a homerun shy of a cycle, going 4-5 with a triple, double, and two RBI.
