Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals edged the Elmira Pioneers 3-2 in the second game of their doubleheader Saturday night at Yogi Berra Stadium to gain the sweep.The Jackals took the first game by the score of 4-3. New Jersey has won 10 in a row and 18 out of their last 19. They are now 30 games over the .500 mark with an overall record of 48-18.
Mike Bertotti (9-4) won his 4th straight decision. He allowed two runs on two hits through six innings while walking two and striking out four. Chris Chavez earned his first save for the Jackals. He pitched one inning and walked one.
With the score tied at one, the Jackals pulled ahead in the 4th inning with two runs. Mikaela Dworken led off the inning with his first triple of the year and then scored on an RBI single by Todd Johannes. New Jersey tacked on another run in the inning with Craig Conway's RBI double.
Offensively for the Jackals, Conway went 2-3 with a double and an RBI and Chas Terni finished the game 2-4. The ten game winning streak is the second longest this season for the Jackals, who set a new Northern League record with 13 consecutive wins earlier this season.
