Jackals Start Road Trip with 3-2 Win in Quebec City

The New Jersey Jackals continued to play scorching hot baseball in the month of August.

In game one of a seven game Canadian road trip, the Jackals defeated the Quebec Capitales 3-2 on Monday night at Stade Canac.

Jackals third baseman Conrad Gregor started the evening off with his 10th homer of the year, a solo shot in the first inning to give the Jackals an early 1-0 lead.

Left fielder Alfredo Marte drove in his Can-Am League leading 76th run of the season with a groundout plating right fielder Demetrius Moorer in the 3rd.

Quebec tacked on a run in the bottom of the 5th inning when second baseman TJ White lifted a sacrifice fly to score left fielder Brandon Fischer.

In the top of the 8th inning, first baseman Richard Stock provided a much needed run of insurance for New Jersey, singling in Gregor to push the Jackals advantage to 3-1.

Capitales designated hitter Jhalan Jackson hit his eight homer of the year, a solo shot in the bottom half of the frame to slice the lead back to 3-2.

Reliever Reece Karlaus retired the Capitales side of the order in the ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the year, and give the Jackals its 42nd victory.

New Jersey has now won 11 of its last 13 games played, and sits just five games back of first place

The Jackals look to continue its winning ways on Tuesday night in the second game of the series in Quebec City at 7:05 P.M.
