New Jersey Jackals News Release

LITTLE FALLS, NJ-The New Jersey Jackals today announced the signing of free agent infielder Dan Grice to a contract. Grice will join the team in Albany Thursday when the team opens up a three-game series vs. the Albany- Colonie Diamond Dogs.

The 26 year-old Grice is in his sixth season of professional baseball, nearly all of it played in the Northern League. He began his career in 1997 playing for Bend in the independent Western League before spending the next three seasons playing for Madison in the Northern League.

Last season the slick-fielding middle infielder committed only 3 errors in 30 games while playing for Albany before being signed by the Chicago Cubs organization. In the Cubs chain the Creswell, OR native played for single-A Daytona and double-A West Tennessee before being released in December.

"He is someone I am familiar with and impressed with," said Jackals manager George Tsamis. "I plan on playing him at second base; and with Chas Terni at shortstop, I think we now have a terrific up-the-middle defense."

Coming off of the three-day All Star break, the Jackals resume their regular season schedule Thursday in Albany. The Jackals have won 11 consecutive games and 19 out of their last 20. They are 49-18 on the season.
