ELMIRA, NY - October 9, 2015 - The Jackals defeated the Reading Royals 5-2 in their lone preseason matchup as they gear up for the 2015-16 regular season.

Elmira fell behind 1-0 just 36 seconds into the contest as Mike Pereira streamed down the left wing side and slipped the puck past Jackals netminder Sam Marotta. The Jackals answered back later in the first period when Matt Garbowsky stole the puck along the right wing wall and ripped a wrist shot off the arm of Martin Ouellette, tying the game 1-1 at 13:15 of the opening frame.

The Royals roared out early yet again in the second period as Ian Watters scored to retake the lead 34 seconds into the frame. However, Colin Jacobs would quickly knot the game back up at 2-2 with a silky snapshot from the left circle over the shoulder of Ouellette at 1:29 of the period. Scott Jacklin added the assist on Jacobs' marker and then helped the Jackals take the lead at 7:30 of the stanza with a slippery pass between the legs of a defender onto the stick of Chris Langkow for the tap-in tally. Mike Seidel also added a helper on Langkow's marker. Elmira wasn't done yet in the second frame as Allan McPherson joined the party with a power-play goal at 16:02. Colin Jacobs and Cason Hohmann recorded the assists.

The Jackals added one more marker in the third period as Garrett Klotz stepped out of the penalty box, picked up the puck and fed Garbowsky on a two-on-one for the one-timer. Garbowsky's second goal of the night came at 10:29 of the final frame. Neither team scored in the three-on-three practice overtime session, which followed the conclusion of regulation.

Sam Marotta earned the win with 20 saves on 22 shots and Brad Barone added seven saves in the third period in relief duty. Martin Ouellette was saddled with the loss, allowed five goals on 28 shots.
