New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals pounded the New Haven County Cutters, 14-2, while winning the rubber match of their three game series.

Both teams exchanged RBI groundouts in the first inning, but it was New Jersey who put up a three spot in the top of the third inning, to take a 4-1 lead. Elvis Corporan doubled home a pair of runs, and Joe Jiannetti collected an RBI single. Derrick Gibson scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the third, but it wasn't enough to keep up with New Jersey's offense.

In the fourth, New Jersey scored another run on a Cordova sacrifice fly. But the sixth would turn out to be the Jackals' big inning. They pushed across four runs, including a pair on a two-run homerun by Chris Rowan.

New Jersey added another run in the top of the eighth, making 10-2 in favor of the Jackals, and that still wouldn't be the end of it. The Jackals added another four runs in the top of the ninth, ending the offensive onslaught at 14 runs. Darren Ciraco, Steve Checksfield, Rowan and Cordova all added RBIs.

Joe Orloski was the winner for the Jackals, while the loss was suffered by Tim Keinath.
