Jackals host fourth sell out of season in overtime loss

Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals fell for the first time this season in overtime 4-3 on Friday against the Trenton Devils in front of a record-breaking crowd of 4,325 fans at First Arena, the largest since the team joined the ECHL in 2007.
Jeff Prough had the game-winning goal at 2:52 of the overtime period with his second goal of the season as the Devils earned their first road win of 2009-2010.
The Jackals trailed 1-0 in the second period when Travis Gawryletz found Maxime Gratchev cutting into the offensive zone on the left side. Gratchev slid the puck past Trenton goaltender Gerald Coleman to tie it up at 14:22. Keegan Dansereau scored his first ECHL goal on a five-on-three power play at 17:11 of the second period, with Tyler Donati and Justin Donati teaming up for the assists to give the Jackals their only lead of the evening.
Trevor Kell and Scott Bartlett scored two goals early in the third period to give the Devils the 3-2 advantage.
The Jackals were not done, however. Jackals captain Olivier Proulx found Chanse Fitzpatrick in front at 11:59 to even the score at three on Fitzpatrick's eighth goal of the season.
The First Arena crowd was electric near the end of the game, as Elmira killed off a five-on-three situation in the first two minutes of overtime. A minute later, however, Tim Kunes took the puck the length of the ice and found Jeff Prough who beat Holt glove side for the game winner in the extra session.
The Devils victory ended the Jackals 2009-2010 winning streak at seven and overall streak at ten. The Jackals do have a streak in progress for consecutive games without a regulation loss, which stands at 11. In 2008-2009, the Jackals tied for the league lead with five sell-out crowds. This season, the Jackals lead the ECHL with four sell outs through five home games.
The Jackals resume play tomorrow night at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J. at 7 p.m. for the third of four-straight games they will face against the Devils.
