New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals held on to beat the Allentown Ambassadors, 7-5, Tuesday night at Yogi Berra Stadium after Allentown scored 4 runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Down 7-1 in the 9th inning, Jay Hood hit a three run homerun, his third of the year, to close the Jackals lead to 3. Josh Carter's RBI single made the score 7-5 and brought the tying run to the plate. Stephen Larkin next reached on an infield single, but Carter was thrown out at third base by Jackals first baseman Dave Callahan for the final out of the game as Carter was trying to advance an extra base.

The Jackals jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning, with the big hit being Billy Brown's 2 RBI single. New Jersey put more distance between themselves and the Ambassadors with a run in the 3rd and a two run homer by Dave Callahan, his 9th of the year, in the 7th inning.

Steve Fish (9-4) earned the win, pitching 7 innings while giving up only one run on five hits while walking two and striking out seven. Chris Chavez earned his 2nd save of the season as he put a stop to the Ambassador's 9th inning rally.
