New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ -On the first "Bark at the Park" night at Yogi Berra Stadium, the New Jersey Jackals continued to struggle offensively, dropping their fifth in a row, and ninth in their last 11 by the score of 3-2 to the Quebec Capitales.

Jackals' starter Mike McGuire got off to a shaky start in the first inning, allowing the first three batters to reach base. After base hits by Jeff Helps and Jonathan Malo, Sebastien Boucher cracked an RBI double, driving in both runners to make it 2-0.

Quebec added another run in the top of the fifth inning, courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Rene Leveret, scoring Jonathon Malo.

The Jackals got back into the ballgame in the fifth inning.

Chris Duffy led off with a single to right field, and was moved to second base on a fielders' choice error by Capitales third baseman Maxime Lefevre. Danny Rams followed with a single to left field to load the bases.

Benji Johnson then hit an infield single to bring home the Jackals' first run of the ball game. Jeremy Barnes, who made his return to the line-up after dealing with a groin injury, hit into a fielders' choice to shortstop, allowing Jose Cuevas to score and cut the Capitales lead to 3-2.

In his Yogi Berra Stadium debut, Mike McGuire got off to a rough start, but settled down well. In his five innings of work, McGuire let up six hits on three runs, two of which were earned.

Mike Francisco came in relief for McGuire, throwing two shutout innings against a very good Quebec offense. Tim Adleman pitched two shutout innings as well, battling out of trouble in the top of the ninth.

Quebec starter Dustin Crenshaw went six strong innings, allowing seven hits and two runs. Tim Griffin was impressive in his inning and two thirds.

Casey Harman came in relief in the bottom of the eighth, recording four outs for his second save on the season.

The Jackals (22 - 25) will finish their four game series with the Quebec Capitales on Tuesday night, with half priced beer and soda being sold for Mardi Gras night; first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm. Craig Heyer is scheduled to pitch for the Jackals.
