Odessa Jackalopes News Release

The Odessa Jackalopes are proud to announce the signing of forward Collin O'Hearn for the 2017-2018 season. O'Hearn is the third player to sign a tender with the Jackalopes on the season, following Ty Black and Spence Van Tiem.

The NAHL tender period opened last Tuesday, November 1st, and the Jackalopes have already signed three of their eight tenders. The Jacks have also used both of their NAPHL tenders now on O'Hearn and Black.

"It's an awesome feeling," says O'Hearn. "The Jackalopes are a great organization and have a great coaching staff. I'm just glad that I get the opportunity to play for them."

O'Hearn (6'2"/195 lbs), a forward from Coppell, TX, is currently playing for former Jacks assistant coach, Cody Campbell, now head coach of the Colorado Springs AAA Tigers U16 of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL). The 16 year old, in his first season in the NAPHL, has five points through his first ten games of the season. O'Hearn ranks first on the team in both goals (4) and points (5).

This past week, O'Hearn flew back to Texas to skate with the Jackalopes, confirming coach Greg Gatto's feeling that O'Hearn would fit well in Odessa.

"Collin [O'Hearn] is a big body who plays hard," explains Gatto. "He can be a guy who we can move up and down the lineup to fit whatever role is necessary."

Remember that the Jacks play tonight and tomorrow night at the Ector County Coliseum. The Dallas Stars Ice Girls are in town tonight and plenty of tickets are still available. Call the Jacks front office at 432-552-7825 or stop by the box office starting at 5pm to purchase tickets. Puck drop for both nights will be at 7:05pm as the Jacks take on the Shreveport Mudbugs.
