NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - It was a tough night for Odessa as the Jackalopes (8-32-1-1) fell to the Lone Star Brahmas (33-8-0-1) by a score of 5-1 at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Friday night.

The Brahmas opened the scoring up just 101 seconds into the contest to take an early 1-0 lead. Two more goals just forty seconds apart gave Lone Star a 3-0 lead in the late stages of the first period.

However the Jackalopes fought back and answered with Isaiah Huempfner's third goal in two games, less than a minute later. Off a face-off on the right circle, Huempfner was able to coral a bouncing puck and back-handed a shot towards the goal and in past Lone Star netminder Ludvig Persson.

Down 3-1, the Jackalopes looked to pull even in the second period. Unfortunately the Brahmas had other ideas. Two goals by Michal Stinil put Lone Star up 5-1 after two periods.

The third period was marked by both sides letting out frustration. Big hits, bad tempers and scrums after the whistle were common. Zach Stern was pulled right around the ten minute mark of the third after a collision with a Brahma forward. Andrew Takacs made four saves in relief to close out the game.

The Jackalopes will reset and regroup as they get ready for the second game of their weekend series against Lone Star, face-off will be at 7:30 pm.
