NORTH CHARLESTON, SC â This Saturday, June 21, the North Charleston Coliseum will be the place to be in the South Carolina Lowcountry. The coliseum will play host to a pair of concerts and an exciting Arena Football game starting at 3:30 pm.
The start of the football game has been moved up to a special start time of 6:00 pm instead of the normal 7:30 pm kick off time.
The day of festivities kicks off with the tailgate zone in the parking lot at the North Charleston Coliseum officially starting at 3:30 pm. The local bluegrass band, "Common Ground" will be performing for fans. Common Ground (www.commongroundbluegrass.com) has been together since June of 2001, spreading their bluegrass music around various venues around the Lowcountry. They are led by the angelic sounds of Laura Macon on lead vocals, Melvin Cumbie on banjo, Jenni Lyn Gardner on mandolin, and Debbie Kimzey on base.
The June 21 game also features a post-game concert by Christian recording artist, Jaci Velasquez (www.jacivelasquez.com) and her "Unspoken" tour. Velasquez's resume includes three RIAA-certified platinum albums, six Dove Awards, a Latin Billboard Music Award, a Premio Le Nuestro Award, three Grammy nods, five Billboard Music Award nominations, 16 #1 radio hits and more than 50 magazine covers.
This summer, she added movie star to her laundry list of accomplishments. Velasquez co-starred in the summer hit, "Chasing Papi," (www.chasingpapi.com) which hit movie theaters back on April 16.
Sandwiched in between the two great shows, the Charleston Swamp Foxes will look to extend their current winning streak to three as they play host to the Macon Knights. The Foxes have clawed their way back into second place in the American Conference's Atlantic Division and stand poised to make a run for the teams' first post-season appearance. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm.
