Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
The Bombers host the Stampeders today, October 18th. Kickoff is at 6:00.
Stats & Facts:
The Bombers are not out of the playoff race yet. If we win our three remaining games, and have some luck with what the other teams do, we will be in.
QB Brian Brohm will make his first CFL start in place of an injured Drew Willy.
Don Unamba will make his first CFL start at linebacker. Arrive Early for a big surprise from Buzz & Boomer
Buzz and Boomer are going to take "making an entrance" to a whole new level..... literally! (Perhaps that's a clue...) The big, surprise entrance will take place approximately 15 minutes before kickoff. Believe us when we tell you, you won't want to miss it!
Honouring Canadian Forces & First Responders
This is also our annual game honouring the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to our safety through the Canadian Military and in jobs as First Responders. We'll feature a military fly-by during the pre-game (at approximately 6:00pm), and at halftime, the Military will face the First Responders in a fun competition on the field!
O' Canada
Tonight, local Army Cadets will be holding the large Canadian flag on the field during the National Anthem, presented by Tim Hortons.
Pink Game
This game is the Bombers annual PINK game, part of the CFL-wide initiative supporting the fight against women's cancers. The players and coaches will wear pink as part of their kits. We'll be selling pink gear in the Bomber Store and in the stands, with proceeds going to the Keeping Abreast Fund.
Tailgate at the Plaza
Opens at 3:30pm. Tailgate at the Plaza is at Gate 2, at the corner of Chancellor Matheson Road and University Crescent. Tailgate at the Plaza offers food, drinks, and music for the adults, and a separate family-friendly zone with fun for kids and adults alike! Tailgate will be open at halftime.
Gates
Open at 4:30 pm, 90 minutes before kickoff.
The Post-Game Traffic Buster
For one hour after the final whistle: North Concourse concessions remain open for an hour, and fans can also go on the field to enjoy music from DJ Co-Op. Park & Ride and Transit Buses will continue to run until after the Traffic Buster is over.
Beat the Traffic
With City of Winnipeg road construction projects continuing near Investors Group Field, we are encouraging all fans to give themselves extra time to get to the game.
Manitoba Public Insurance Bike Valet
The forecast for today is for perfect weather, before and after the game! Instead of driving, try riding your bike to Investors Group Field and park it at the Manitoba Public Insurance Bike Valet, outside of Gate 3. The Manitoba Public Insurance Bike Valet is free, secure and monitored throughout the game so your wheels will be ready and waiting for you when the game is over. To find the best bike route to the game, check out WinnipegTrails.ca.
You and Your Crew
Tweet photos of You and Your Crew enjoying the game to @wpg_bluebombers for a chance to win prizes from the Bomber Store. Be sure to add the hashtag #mycrew to be entered!
