Isotopes Unveil 2009 Schedule
January 6, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, have announced their 2009 schedule, featuring a 72-game home slate that includes 11 action-packed weekends and eight fireworks shows at Isotopes Park.
For the first time since 2007, the âTopes will kick off the Pacific Coast League season at home with the first of four games against the Omaha Royals, Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, taking place on Thursday, April 9. The opening homestand continues with four additional games against the Iowa Cubs, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, kicking off the âTopes' seventh season in Albuquerque.
Once again, fans can expect back-to-back fireworks nights in celebration of Independence Day, as the âTopes will light up the skies on both July 2 and July 3. The Isotopes will also host back-to-back fireworks shows in recognition of Memorial Day weekend on May 23 and May 24 as well for Fan Appreciation weekend on August 29 and August 30.
The schedule also features a special Memorial Day Cookout, where fans will have the opportunity to pre-purchase an all-you-can-eat pre-game or in-game picnic (details forthcoming).
The 2009 slate also features the return of teams that haven't played in Albuquerque since 2007, including regional rivals Colorado Springs, top affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and Salt Lake, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Also on tap will be two series apiece with Isotope division rivals Round Rock, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, and the New Orleans Zephyrs, who begin their first season as the top affiliate of the Florida Marlins.
Closing out the home schedule in August, when the pennant drive reaches a fever-pitch, the Isotopes will play 13 straight home games from August 22 to September 3, the longest homestand in franchise history.
Specific promotions will be announced at a later date, but already locked into the schedule are fan-favorites such as 50-Cent Hot Dog Night, Myron Noodleman, Zooperstars!, Birdzerk, and the triumphant return of the Famous Chicken, who will be making his first appearance at Isotopes Park
