New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Hector Luna was a late insertion into the Albuquerque lineup on Saturday night. Turns out, it was the right move, as Luna had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs to help the Albuquerque Isotopes past the New Orleans Zephyrs 11-2. Luna was not in the original lineup for the Isotopes, but started at second base in place of Chin-Lung Hu and ended up a triple shy of the cycle. His night was highlighted by a three-run homer off Willie Collazo in the fourth.
Slidell native Xavier Paul drilled a three-run homer of his own, off Zephyrs starter Brett Sinkbeil just three batters into the game to give Albuquerque the early advantage. Paul finished 3-for-5 and is now patting a PCL-leading .444.
Sinkbeil (1-3) took the loss after allowing six runs and six hits in 3.1 innings. He walked three and struck out four.
The only offense from New Orleans came in the second inning, when John Lindsey delivered an RBI double and came around to score on a single by John Purdom.
The Zephyrs continue the quest for their first home win of the season on Sunday, when they host the Isotopes at 2:00 p.m. A pair of southpaws will square off, when the Zephyrs' John Koronka is opposed by Eric Milton.
