Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes scratched out six hits and took advantage of seven walks to edge the Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3 today in Jupiter, Florida. The triumph evened Albuquerque's Spring Training record to 1-1.
Outfielder Eric Reed, who has been a fan-favorite in Albuquerque the past three seasons, roped an RBI double to right-center in the third to give the âTopes a 1-0 lead before outfielder Dante Brinkley, who spent last season in Single-A Jupiter and Double-A Carolina, belted a two-run homer to right to increase the cushion to 3-0 Isotopes.
Infielder Rex Rundgren also chipped in an RBI double for Albuquerque.
Albuquerque will stay in Jupiter tomorrow to play host to the New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, as Spring Training action rolls on.
The 2008 Isotopes season begins on April 3, with the home opener slated for April 11, when the âTopes host the Oklahoma RedHawks, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
