Islanders Recall de Haan, Loan Donovan to Sound Tigers

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Nov. 28, 2013) - The New York Islanders announced today that they have recalled defenseman Calvin de Haan from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Additionally, they have loaned defenseman Matt Donovan to the Sound Tigers.

de Haan, 22, was drafted by the Islanders in the first round (12th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft. He played 56 games in 2011-12 and scored 16 points (two goals, 14 assists). He also played one game for the Islanders that season. He missed all but three games last season with a shoulder injury, but returned to the lineup this season and as appeared in every game. In 17 games with the Sound Tigers, the Ottawa native has three points (one goal, two assists).

Donovan, 23, was a fourth-round (96th overall) draft pick of the Islanders in 2008. After two years at the University of Denver, he played six games with the Sound Tigers at the end of the 2010-11 season. He had five points (one goal, four assists) in those games before going on to score 93 points (24 goals, 69 assists) for the Sound Tigers over the next two seasons. He played three games for the Islanders in 2011-12 and played 22 games for them this season, picking up five points (one goal, four assists)

The Sound Tigers return to action Friday at 7 p.m. with a game against the Hartford Wolf Pack at Webster Bank Arena.
