Charlottetown Islanders News Release
The Charlottetown Islanders kick off an important 3-game weekend tonight in Bathurst when they take on the Titan from the K.C. Irving Regional Centre at 7:00pm.
The Islanders (14-7-2-0) sit fourth in the Eastern Conference, five points back of the third place Halifax Mooseheads. A successful weekend against some stiff competition will go a long way in determining where the Islanders sit amongst the top teams in the league. They're coming off of a hard-fought 4-3 overtime loss to the Mooseheads on Tuesday night.
The Titan (5-18-0-1) meanwhile are coming off of a victory of their own, a 4-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs. They're looking to string together a series of wins to pull them back in to a playoff spot; they sit just one point back of the Shawinigan Cataractes for the final playoff spot in the league.
The Isles and Titan met just six days ago in Bathurst, with the Isles defeating the Titan by a score of 8-3. Pierre-Olivier Joseph had 4 points in the victory, while Brett Budgell recorded two goals.
Joseph has been on a hot streak in November, recording 12 points in 7 games. Not to be outdone, Budgell has been tearing it up in the goal column, with 7 goals in 7 games.
For the Titan, Noah Dobson is leading the way on the scoresheet with 14 points in 22 games. The Titan have been banged up, with top players such as Cole Rafuse, Kristian Kovacik, and Logan Chisholm all missing time over the past number of games with a variety of injuries.
One player to watch for Bathurst is rookie Charles-Andre Cypihot. The hulking 6'5 forward from Montreal has recorded 3 points in 4 games this season, including points in two straight games since joining the team full-time this month.
Tonight's game can be seen on Eastlink TV's Friday Night Hockey, Channel 610 on your cable box. Don't have Eastlink? Tune in to Fair Isle Ford Isles Radio to catch all of the action!
