
Islanders Agree to Terms with Marcinko

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (June 27, 2011) - The New York Islanders announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Tomas Marcinko on a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract.
Marcinko, 23, appeared in a career-high 66 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last season and recorded 11 points (four goals/seven assists) to go along with his 56 penalty minutes. Marcinko was the fourth round (115th overall) pick of the Islanders in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in 178 games with the Sound Tigers over the past three seasons, totaling 12 goals and 16 assists.
The Poprad, Slovakia native represented Team Slovakia during the 2008 World Junior Championships and also served as captain of the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League for the second half of the 2007-08 season.
