(CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI) The Windsor Express (4-5) lost their second game in a row while out east to the Island Storm (4-5) with a final score of 107-105.
The Express were off to a rough start in the game, creating a 15 point deficit at the four minute mark, giving the Storm a 24-9 lead. However, the Express went on a 10-0 run in the last few minutes of the quarter to bring the score within 5, 24-19. The Storm closed the first quarter with a 28-26 lead.
Nick Evans opened up the second quarter with a three point play to extend the Island's lead to 31-26. Windsor took their first lead of the game at the 9:25 mark after a fast break dunk from Shaquille Keith, taking a one point lead over the Island, 32- 31. The Island finished the first half with a 56-52 advantage.
The third quarter did not fare well for the Express, as they did not lead the entire quarter. The Storm and the Express were equal in shots, with 24 apiece. The Express went into the last quarter of the game down by four, 80-76.
The Island went into the last quarter of the game strong, creating a ten point lead over Windsor, 86-76. Windsor created their biggest lead after back to back three pointers from Brandon Robinson and Chris Commons with five minutes left in the game, 94- 88. Former Windsor Guard Gary Gibson seals the win for the Island with a pair of free throws to end the game with a final score of 107-102.
Chris Commons and Brandon Robinson each had a double double in the loss to the Storm. Chris had a game high 31 points, 13 rebounds. Brandon put up 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Adrian Moss had 7 assists.
Two Island Storm players had double double performances as well. Brian Addison was the leading scorer for the Storm with 24 points and 13 rebounds, followed closely by Nick Evans who put up 21 points and 10 rebounds.
The Windsor Express will be back at The WFCU Centre this Sunday, January 17th hosting the Orangeville A's for a 2:00pm game start.
