New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, N.J.* - The Can-Am League has announced that Jackals' pitcher Isaac Pavlik and catcher Myron Leslie have been named to the league's Postseason All-Star Team.
Pavlik, who was tabbed the league's All-Star left-handed pitcher, finished 13-3 with a 2.73 ERA in 19 starts. The Rutherford native led the league with 112 strikeouts and 131.2 innings pitched and ranked second in wins (13), complete games (5) and shutouts (1) while posting the third-lowest ERA in the circuit (2.73). Pavlik was named Can-Am League Pitcher of the Month in June after going 5-0 with a 1.66 ERA en route to winning his first eight decisions of the season. Two of Pavlik's three losses were by 2-1 scores and the southpaw turned in 15 quality starts.
The longest-tenured player on the Jackals' roster, Pavlik has posted a sub-four ERA in each of his seven seasons with New Jersey. Currently in his 10th professional season overall, the Seton Hall product is 67-43 with a 3.55 ERA during his career. He was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th round of the 2002 draft.
A veteran of eight professional seasons, Leslie finished sixth in the Can-Am League with a career-high .328 batting average while clubbing nine homers and driving in 54 runs in his first full season behind the plate at the professional level. The 29-year-old Florida native led the Can-Am League with 69 walks and a .451 on-base percentage while ranking fifth with 27 doubles and swiping a career-high 14 bases. In addition to serving as the Jackals' primary backstop, Leslie showed his versatility by playing 22 games in the outfield, 10 at second base, and one at third base.
Leslie, who is in his second season with the Jackals, was also named a Can-Am League All-Star at first base with New Jersey in 2009 after batting .272 with 18 home runs and 75 RBIs. He returned to New Jersey this year after spending the 2010 season in the New York Yankees' minor league system at Advanced-A Tampa. Leslie was originally drafted by the Oakland A's as an infielder in the eighth round in 2004 out of the University of South Florida.
