IronPigs Game Notes
July 19, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The IronPigs (54-44) will play the finale of a four-game series against the fourth-place Durham Bulls (45-54) at Durham Bulls Athletic Park... With a 6-4 loss last night, the Pigs have dropped four of their last five games and fallen to 3-7 on this eleven-game road trip. Despite going just 4-9 in their last 13 games, the Pigs have gone 23-18 in their 41 contests to go from 4.5-games out to 0.5-games up in the North... The Bulls -- Tampa's top affiliate -- have now won back-to-back games following their seven-game losing streak. Still, the Bulls are just 4-9 in their last 13 affairs after a going 15-7 from June 10 to July 2.
RHP B.J. Rosenberg (2-2, 2.06) will start for LHV against LHP Alex Torres (3-4, 6.84).
First-pitch tonight is 7:05 p.m... The Pigs next return home to start an eight-game homestand with four-game series against Columbus beginning Friday.
SOLE BROTHERS...STILL!:
With PAW and SWB losing again last night, the Pigs maintained sole possession of first place in the North by 0.5-games over PAW -- marking the 17th consecutive day they've held the top spot... LHV has been in sole possession of first place in the North since a DH sweep 7/1 vs. PAW... Overall, they've now spent 27 days in sole possession and 42 days with at least a share for the North lead this season, snapping a 66-day drought from 4/22-6/25.
THE PIGS NEED A WIN TONIGHT TO...:
* Potentially avoid falling as far back as a tie for 2nd in the North pending PAW & SWB outcomes (haven't been out of 1st since 6/27)
* Avoid losing the series, 3-1, and dropping their 3rd straight series & their 4th "true" road series (not including a 1-1 split @ SWB).
* Force a tie in the 2012 season series with DUR (4-4)... which would also again tie the lifetime series 20-20 through 5 seasons.
* Avoid falling below being at least 10-G above .500 for the first time since 6/16 (38-29 after a 3-0 loss to DUR).
