Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The first-place IronPigs (63-48) play the finale of a three-game series -- a "rubber match" -- against the third-place Scranton/W-B Yankees (58-51). With doubleheader split last night (W, 4-2; L, 4-1), the Pigs have now dropped five of their last six contests following their five-game winning streak and have started 1-1 on this season-long, 11-game road trip. The Pigs are just 22-24 since June 16 but 7-6 following a 15-18 skid (6/16-7/20)... The Yankees -- New York's top affiliate -- snapped a four-game skid in Game Two, but have lost four of their last five games following a season-high, six-game win streak. Prior to the win streak, the Yanks had not been more than seven games above .500 since April 27 (14-6).
RHP Scott Mathieson (0-1, 2.85) will start for LHV against LHP Manny Banuelos (4-5, 3.59 in AA), making his Triple-A debut.
First-pitch is 7:05 p.m... Next up is a day off Wednesday prior to starting a four-game series in Durham.
