Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, Pa.) -- Monday's series-opening game between the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Buffalo Bisons at Coca-Cola Park has been postponed due to rain. The game had been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at Coca-Cola Park. Both contests are scheduled for seven innings and only one ticket is needed for admission to both games.
Due to the postponement, fans holding tickets to Monday's game can exchange each ticket for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining 2009 home game. All ticket exchanges must be made in-person at the Coca-Cola Park Ticket Office (no phone or internet exchanges). Ticket exchanges are subject to availability.
Tuesday's doubleheader begins at 6:05 p.m. and the main gates open at 5 p.m. Tuesday is also Cinco De Mayo Maraca giveaway (first 3,000 adults 18 and older) presented by Verizon Wireless. The Tuesday night 'party' also includes traditional Mexican music featuring Mexican dancers prior to the IronPigs-Bisons game. At every Tuesday home game, fans can play Ballpark Bingo presented by TD Bank for a chance to win a $50 Visa Check Card and a team autographed baseball.
No make-up date has been announced for Japan Night or the RALLY mascot performance presented by Royal Gourmet Foods, Buon Gusto Restaurant, Joe's Italian Restaurant and Dickey's BBQ Pit that was originally scheduled for Monday, May 4, at Coca-Cola Park.
This is the IronPigs second postponement of 2009 after having just two at home last season and three on the road.
The IronPigs (10-13) have gone 2-2 on this current eight-game homestand. The last-place Buffalo Bisons (4-18) -- the new New York Mets affiliate - entered the series having won two of their last three games to force a split in a four-game series with Louisville. The Bisons started the season 2-17, which was identical to the IronPigs record through 19 games in 2008.
The pitching probables for the doubleheader are as follows:
Game 1: RHP Justin Lehr (3-1, 5.06) vs. RHP Nelson Figueroa (0-1, 2.25) for Buffalo
Game 2: RHP Kyle Kendrick (2-1, 2.77) vs. RHP Tim Redding (0-0, 0.00) for Buffalo
Tickets for all upcoming games at Coca-Cola Park can be purchased in-person at Coca-Cola Park, by calling (610) 841-PIGS or online at ironpigsbaseball.com. Prices for single-game tickets remain identical to 2008 and start as low as $6 for General Admission, granting fans access to the Capital BlueCross Lawn seating area and standing room only areas. Field Level reserved seats are just $9.
Fans are reminded that there are three entry points for parking and are encouraged to use the Dauphin Street entrance when traveling from downtown Allentown. In addition to the Dauphin Street entrance, entry to Coca-Cola Park can be gained off American Parkway and Union Boulevard. Preferred/Handicapped Parking access is available via American Parkway only.
The cost of parking for all IronPigs home games is $3 per vehicle.
