ABERDEEN, Md.-The Aberdeen IronBirds have announced that their Aug. 3 Going Green Night game against the Hudson Valley Renegades will now begin at 2:35 p.m.

The Sunday game had originally been scheduled for 5:35 p.m., but the decision to move the game up three hours was one the organization felt it should make, IronBirds General Manager Aaron Moszer said.

"We looked at the situation and realized that there was no better way for us to go green ourselves than to switch the game to the afternoon," Moszer said. "The afternoon game will provide us the opportunity to forgo the use of our stadium lights which will reduce our energy use and contribute to the celebration of Going Green at Ripken Stadium."

The IronBirds' Going Green Night is set to include a variety of "green" wrinkles that fans don't normally see at the ballpark, including a series of prerecorded video tips from front office staffers who will provide fans with suggestions on how small businesses and individuals can help the environment. Individual tickets for Going Green Night and all of the IronBirds' home games will go on sale at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, as part of the team's annual IronFest celebration at Ripken Stadium.

The Aberdeen IronBirds are the short-season Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Please contact the front office at (410)-297-9292 for more information.
