Iowa's Assistant Captain Helps Edmonton Win

EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA - Appearing in his second game of the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Iowa Stars leading scorer Toby Petersen made the most of his 7:12 of ice time he received during Game Three of the NHL's Western Conference Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. At the 13:47 mark of the first period, Iowa's Assistant Captain scored his first career Stanley Cup Playoff goal, giving Edmonton a 1-0 lead. Petersen's goal proved to be the game-winning goal for 33:28 until the Mighty Ducks finally scored on Edmonton goalie Dwayne Roloson at 7:15 of the third period.

Petersen finished with one goal, a 'plus 1' rating, one shot, 7:12 of ice time, including 1:10 on the power-play. The Oilers defeated the Ducks 5-4 to take a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

A six-year professional, Petersen paced the Iowa Stars in several categories including: points (73), games played (79), assists (47), and points per game (.92). The Minneapolis, Minnesota native finished the 2005-06 Regular Season ranked 17th in the AHL in points, and 20th in assists: 79(26/47/73). Named the Iowa Stars Most Valuable Player and Community Service Award winner and selected as the Stars Fan Favorite, Petersen was tied for second on the team with a 'plus 14' rating. He notched two goals and four assists in Iowa's seven-game playoff series with Milwaukee. His NHL regular season totals reflect 10 goals, 16 assists and eight penalty minutes in 91 games, all as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins: 91(10/16/26)8.
