Iowa Wolves Complete Trade with Birmingham Squadron

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wolves, the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA G League affiliate, today acquired the returning player rights to guard Tony Carr, a 2021 First Round Draft Pick and 2021-22 Third Round Draft Pick from the Birmingham Squadron in exchange for forward Zylan Cheatham and Iowa's 2021-22 Second Round Draft Pick.

Carr (6-5, 200) has appeared in 25 total NBA G League games with the Erie BayHawks, 14 games during the 2019-20 season and 11 games during the 2020-21 season. Carr holds career averages of 9.0 points on 45.7% shooting, 2.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 21.8 minutes per game.

Carr played collegiately at Penn State where he averaged 16.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game from 2016-18, starting in all 70 games before being drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft (51st overall).

Cheatham (6-8, 220) played and started in all 15 of the Wolves 2020-21 games, where he averaged 14.5 points and 10.7 rebounds. Cheatham averaged 16.3 points and 11.9 rebounds in 34 games (30 starts) as a two-way player with the Erie BayHawks (New Orleans Pelicans) during the 2019-20 season.
