Iowa Energy to Host Draft Party

DES MOINES, IA, October 28, 2013 - The Iowa Energy will host its annual NBA Development League Draft party at El Bait Shop (200 SW 2nd St) in downtown Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, November 1st. The draft party will begin at 5:30 PM. Fans of all ages are welcome to attend as the Energy will select players for the upcoming season.

Returning Energy players and the High Voltage Dance team will be in attendance. Prizes will be given away during the evening's festivities including merchandise, autographed gear, and VIP game experiences. Drink specials will begin at 5:30PM.

Iowa currently has a total of ten picks in this season's draft following various trades last season. A full list of Energy draft picks are below:

. 1st Round - #1 and #6

. 2nd Round - No Pick

. 3rd Round - #35, #39, #42

. 4th Round - #52

. 5th Round - #69

. 6th Round - #86

. 7th Round - #103

. 8th Round - #120

The 2013 NBA D-League Draft order is determined based on teams that did not qualify for the previous season's playoffs, in reverse order of record, followed by those teams that did qualify for the previous season's playoffs, also in reverse order of record. Based on this format, the Iowa Energy have been awarded the first overall selection. They also acquired the sixth overall pick in a trade from the Los Angeles D-Fenders last season.

Prior to the draft, a full list of players returning to the Energy will be released to the public.

Iowa Energy season tickets are now on sale for the 2013-14 season. The Energy will host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in its opening day game on Sunday, December 8 at 4 PM. The newest NBA D-League team, the Delaware 87ers, will be the opponent for the opening night game on Saturday, December 14 at 7PM.
