Cary, NC: In front of a packed house at the Young Center, the Invasion fell behind 10 - 0 to the Carolina Gladiators early in the game, but then went on a 29 to 11 run to close out the quarter. Through tough defense, a strong rebounding advantage, and a high-paced offense, the Invasion kept the throttle down for the remainder game, winning by a final score of 119 - 81. Invasion guard and former Shaw standout Mike Smith led all scorers with 22 points, including a thunderous dunk that ignited the crowd early in the game.
Invasion forward Charles Ward added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the winning effort. Elijah Corrica had 19 points for the Gladiators. Power forward Travis Taylor had a productive effort for the Gladiators, scoring 15 points and pulling 11 rebounds. Cary out rebounded Carolina 42 to 29. Cary plays next at Wilmington on April 7, 2012.
