Cary Invasion News Release
Cary, NC: Last week the Greensboro Cobras and the Cary Invasion squared off in a game that came down to a single possession in Greensboro. The Cobras came to Cary this week with a chance to secure the final playoff spot in the TRBL West with a win. But one week would make a world of difference as a determined Cary team playing at home in their regular season finale came out ready to play. A packed house in Cary witnessed the home team jump out to quick double-digit lead in the first quarter. Pressure defense forced turnovers that extended the Invasion lead to 27 points at halftime.
In the second half, the home town crowd was treated to more sharp-shooting and acrobatic dunks from the Cary squad. The visitors from Greensboro could not make up any ground, and the final score was Cary 138, Greensboro 100. Eight Cary players scored in double-figures, led by TRBL All Star Corey Evans (Cincinnati Christian) with 20 points and Paul Wright (Mountain State) with 19 points. Wright shot 88% from the field in the game. Cobras forward Kenard Moore (SE Missouri) led all scorers with 26 points.
Cary finishes the regular season at 12-0, earns at least a share of the TRBL regular season title, and secures a top seed in the TRBL playoffs that take place on June 15th and 16th in Fayetteville. Cary will play Team HoopForLyfe (Concord, NC) on Saturday, June 15th at 5 pm in a semi-final game at the JD Fuller Center. The other semi-final to be played at 7 pm will feature the also-undefeated PrimeTime Players (12-0) from Ft. MIll, SC against Big Texas (9-3) from Jacksonville, NC. The semi-final winners will meet in the TRBL Playoff Championship Game at 5 pm on June 16th.
