Cary Invasion News Release
At a rowdy Schwartz Center in Wilmington Sunday night, the Cary Invasion (11 - 1) lost a wild match up against the Wilmington Sea Dawgs by a score of 94 - 90.
Wilmington (5 - 6) controlled the game handily through 3 quarters, taking a 15-point lead into the final 12 minutes. However, the game was not over. Despite poor shooting throughout the game, Cary ground out points and played tough defense to turn the deficit into a 4-point lead with less than 2 minutes left.
But Wilmington played the last 5 possessions perfectly, closing out the game with defensive stands, steals, and made shots.
Former UNC Wilmington player Joe King led all scorers with 17 points for the Sea Dawgs.
Cary plays next against the Birmingham Sabers at 7 pm on Friday, June 24th for the first round of the CBL playoffs at the Young Center in downtown Cary. Cary will host the CBL championship game at 5 pm on Sunday, June 26th with a win against Birmingham.
