Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Intimidators jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 4-2 win over Hickory on Tuesday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
Kannapolis got out to a 4-0 lead after four innings behind starter Charlie Leesman-a lead which held through the final five frames. Leesman (3-0) went a season-best seven innings, giving up two earned runs on eight hits. He also struck out three and walked two.
The Intimidators (12-7) are now 4-0 in games started by Leesman this season.
John Curtis was a constant contributor, both behind the plate and at the dish. Curtis became the third Kannapolis player this season to tally three hits in a game, going 3-for-4, while also retiring both potential base stealers.
Eduardo Escobar, Drew Garcia and Kenny Williams each had RBIs early to power the offensive attack. Kannapolis recorded 10 hits, their second straight game reaching double digits.
Jake Brigham (1-1) took the loss in the start for the Crawdads (9-10). Brigham gave up all four runs, though just two earned, in four innings. Martin Perez did not give up a run in the final four innings of relief.
