Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Intimidators and the Power split a pair of games on Saturday night, as West Virginia took game one 4-3 in eight innings, before Kannapolis rallied for a 14-5 game two victory.

The Intimidators needed a big inning late in game two to avoid being swept in a doubleheader for the first time this season. Kannapolis sent 17 men to the plate in the bottom of the sixth and scored 12 runs to turn a 5-2 deficit into a 14-5 lead.

The Intimidators had never scored more than 10 runs in a game prior to Saturday.

Tyler Kuhn was brilliant throughout, but picked up four hits in game two, including two RBI singles in the big frame. Kuhn had seven hits in nine at bats over the course of the doubleheader.

Kannapolis (28-27) missed out on a game one win after taking a three-run lead to the top of the seventh inning. But West Virginia (21-34) scored three runs in the top of the seventh off of Stephen Sauer and Dan Remenowsky to send the game to extras before scoring an unearned run in the eighth for the win.

Sauer looked strong in the start, but did not factor in the decision. The Intimidators right-hander gave up two runs in six innings, though both runs against him crossed after he exited the ballgame.

Kannapolis and West Virginia will finish up their five-game series with another doubleheader on Sunday starting at 3:00 p.m. at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
