Round Five vs. Nashville
Sunday's fixture will be the fifth matchup against Nashville SC. In the 2020 season, Inter Miami CF faced Nashville three times -- twice in the regular season and once in the MLS playoffs. In Nov. 2020, the team faced Nashville in its first playoff appearance in Club history, with Inter Miami becoming just the seventh team in MLS history to advance to the playoffs in its inaugural season.
In the 2021 season, Nashville and Inter Miami faced off at Nissan Stadium on May 2 in a 0-0 draw, with the team putting up a strong defensive performance that resulted in its first clean sheet of the campaign.

Unbeaten Run
Inter Miami CF will return to DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 8 following an away game at Exploria Stadium against Orlando City SC to close out its three-game week. Over the last week, the Herons earned a 2-1 victory against CF Montreal to win the team's first home game of the campaign on July 31 and a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Orlando SC on Aug. 4, and now prepare for the final stretch of the action-packed week. Miami will seek to extend its current unbeaten run to four matches with a positive result against Nashville.
MLS Team of the Week Honors for Gonzalo Higuaín and Kieran Gibbs
Additionally, Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuaín was named to the MLS Team of the Week in Week 16 after his stellar performance scoring a brace to win the match against CF Montréal and defender Kieran Gibbs was named to the MLS Team of the Week in week 17 after scoring his first goal in MLS to tie Inter Miami's match against Orlando.
Familiar Faces
Sunday's matchup could also feature some familiar faces for players of both clubs that were either former teammates or rivals in the past. This would be the first time that Gonzalo Higuaín and Nashville SC midfielder Aníbal Godoy face off against each other in the 2021 season, they previously played against each other in the 2016 Copa América game in which Higuaín played for Argentina and Godoy played for Panama.
Former teammates and rivals Victor Ulloa and Walker Zimmerman may face each other for the seventh time in their careers. Ulloa and Zimmerman also previously played 88 matches alongside each other during their time as FC Dallas players.ÃÂ
Inter Miami's newest addition, defender Ventura Alvarado, rivaled Nashville SC's defensive midfielder Godoy at the 2015 Concacaf Gold Cup tournament in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw between Godoy' Panama against Alvarado and the United States. Alvarado may also face Nashville SC forwardÃÂ Daniel Ríos once again, after Alvarado played against Rios and Coras de Nayarit in the 2016-2017 season during his spell playing for Santos Laguna.
Alvarado may also play against rival Aké Loba, with both players previously facing each other three times in Liga MX matchups between 2018 and 2021; with Alvarado representing Necaxa and Club Atlético de San Luis while Loba played for Querétaro F.C. and C.F. Monterrey. Lastly, Rodolfo Pizarro may also meet familiar rival Loba once again in what will be Pizarro's second match after returningÃÂ from 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup international duty with Mexico. Pizarro played for C.F. Monterrey against Loba and Querétaro in a Liga MX Clausura game in the 2019-2020 season.
Nashville SC's Record
Nashville comes into this weekend's match after tying 0-0 against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday. In 2021, Nashville has registered six wins, 10 draws and one loss. Midfielders Hany Mukhtar and Randall Leal have led the team this campaign, with Mukhtar tallying seven goals and Leal registering five assists.
