Inter Miami CF Signs Paraguayan International Diego Gómez

MIAMI - Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed Paraguayan international Diego Gómez to a contract running through the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) season with an option for 2027. The central midfielder joins the Club as part of MLS' U-22 initiative.

Gómez, who will occupy an international roster slot, joins the Club pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.

"Diego is a well-rounded midfielder that we believe will contribute in all phases of the game. We believe in his ability and potential, and feel he will be a strong addition to our squad as we enter this next phase of growth at Inter Miami," said Chris Henderson, Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director.

"I'm very happy to join Inter Miami at an exciting time for the Club. I believe that we can compete and I will fight to help the Club achieve its goals," said Gómez. "I'm looking forward to wearing the Inter Miami colors and playing in front of our fans."

Gómez, 20, joins from Paraguayan side Club Libertad, where he graduated through the youth ranks and has spent the entirety of his professional career thus far. He made 51 appearances for the senior side, registering six goals and four assists, and helping the team claim two Paraguayan topflight titles.

The San Juan Bautista, Paraguay native has also featured for the Paraguayan national team across youth and senior levels. Gómez has excelled at the youth level for La Albirroja, captaining the U-20 team to the 2022 South American Games title, and captaining the team again at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship. At the senior international level, the midfielder debuted for Paraguay in Sept. 2022, and has made four appearances, including one start. He most recently featured for the senior side in a June 2023 friendly against Nicaragua.
