Inter Miami CF Signs Noah Allen and Modesto Mendez from MLS NEXT Pro Side to Short-Term Agreement
March 5, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed defenders Noah Allen and Modesto Mendez to short-term loan agreements from the club's MLS NEXT Pro side. Both players will be available for Sunday's 2022 Major League Soccer (MLS) road match against Austin FC at 4 p.m. ET at Q2 stadium.
Allen, 17, joined Inter Miami CF II late in 2020 as an Academy registered player, making his debut in October of that season. The left back built on that opportunity in 2021, completing his first full season at the professional level. Additionally, Allen was voted the 2021 USL League One Young Player of the Year and has previously been a U.S. U-15 and U-20 selection. The Pembroke Pines, Florida native fullback made his MLS debut with Inter Miami in the team's 2022 season opener against the Chicago Fire last Saturday, starting the match and playing 78 minutes, and contributing by winning possession four times.
Meanwhile, Mendez, a native of Cuba, played the last two seasons for Inter Miami CF II, appearing in 26 total matches with the club, including 25 starts, and registering two goals. Additionally, the 25-year-old center back took part in Inter Miami's 2022 preseason and gained valuable experience by training with the First Team in 2021.
Per MLS rules, the short-term agreement allows clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
