Inter Miami CF News Release
Today Inter Miami CF announced that this December it will be hosting the first annual Freedom Cup. The in-house, high-level tournament will take place from December 16 to 19 at the Florida Blue Training Center. A total of four teams, (three local and one out of state), will come together to compete in this inaugural showcase.
The mission of the tournament is to create a unique, one-of-a-kind tournament atmosphere where we can compete with the highest-level teams possible in our backyard and expand annually.
"We are proud to announce the Freedom Cup. This tournament will bring high-level competition for our Academy teams to the Florida Blue Training Center every year," said Inter Miami CF Academy Director Craig Dalrymple. "We are excited to host the tournament and look forward to the high level of competition that will be on display, helping the teams continue to grow and develop."
The participating clubs for the 2022 edition include:
Inter Miami CF
Weston FC
Miami Rush Kendall SC
Atlanta United FC
South Florida Football Academy
There will be three age brackets: U-14, U-13 and U-12. Each of these age groups will challenge themselves in eight matches, with a grand total of 24 matches set to take place over the course of the weekend. It is expected that up-to 300 individuals will take part in the tournament's action, including approximately 240 youth players and 60 coaches.
Participating teams will also be on the receiving end of some special perks, such as a barbecue for players and staff, a t-shirt, a 2022 FIFA World Cup viewing party, and a staff social (including a tour of the facility).
Our Academy aims for this opportunity gives young fútbol players in Florida and beyond a chance to improve their skills and grow their level of competition.
