Milwaukee Wave News Release
Milwaukee, Wis.- Another season of exciting, intense Milwaukee Wave indoor soccer is just around the corner as the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) releases the 2006-2007 league schedule. The Milwaukee Wave is joined by this year's lineup of teams that includes the expansion Detroit Ignition, Chicago Storm, California Cougars, Philadelphia Kixx and Baltimore Blast.
The Wave seasons begins in style Saturday, Nov. 4 by hosting rival Chicago Storm, now coached by former Wave player and assistant coach Steve Morris. The game marks the second consecutive year the teams will meet in their season opener. Last year, the Wave defeated Chicago 6-3 as they opened the season on the road at the UIC Pavilion.
"The opportunity to play Chicago in the season opener will give us an early indication as to where we are in terms of our competition," says Vice President of Soccer Operations and Head Coach Keith Tozer. "Steve will have his troops prepared both physically and mentally for the opener. The game is going to be exciting and I am sure will continue to feed the healthy rivalry between the two organizations."
The December 1 game against Baltimore will be a rematch of last year's heart pounding semi-final, won by golden goal by Baltimore. December 9 marks the first visit by the expansion Detroit Ignition and the December 31 game features the annual Piggly Wiggly "Family 4-Pack" New Year's Eve game.
