Inland Empire Falls to Quakes 9-4

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino fell to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 9-4 on Saturday in front of 5,162 fans. Inland Empire (65-66, 32-29) fell to 7-17 against the Quakes in 2018 with the loss.

The Quakes (80-51, 45-16) got a two-run homer in the first off Adrian De Horta (0-2) from Cristian Santana to open the scoring with his league-best 24th homer and league-best 104th RBI. Inland Empire then made three errors in the inning that led to a two more runs and a 4-0 lead. The Sixers got two back in the bottom of the first when Jordan Zimmerman launched a two-run bomb to left, his ninth of the year. Zane Gurwitz doubled in a run in the second to make it 4-3 but the Sixers got no closer as Brandon Montgomery tagged a homer, his fourth, in the fourth inning and the Quakes allowed just one more Sixers' run in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI fielder's choice from David MacKinnon. Ryan Moseley (5-3) was credited with the win out of the pen for the Quakes. Isaac Mattson allowed two runs in relief for the Sixers but did fan seven in 4.0 IP.
