Inferno Shut Down Ice Pilots 6-0

PENSACOLA, F.L. (November 06, 2007) - Inferno rookie goaltender Jeff Jakaitis earned his first professional win with a 6-0 shutout over the Pensacola Ice Pilots Tuesday night.

Jeff Miles scored his seventh goal of the season with a shot from the top of the right circle of Pensacola goaltender Doug Groenestege with assists to Bryan Rodney and Peter Tsimikalis at 16:13 of the first period. Tsimikalis added the second goal of the game at 18:49 with help from Tyson Marsh and Miles.

At 5:21 of the second period, on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity, Tsimikalis netted his second goal of the night as he wrapped around the goal and tucked the puck into the net. Brad Ralph and Miles had the assists. Mac Faulkner scored on a feed by Tyler Doig and Owen Fussey in front of Groenestege as the Inferno took a 4-0 lead at 7:50. Daniel Sparre would have a late second period goal at 19:10 for the 5-0 advantage over the Ice Pilots.

Fussey scored at 5:34 on a short handed goal in the third period to net the final goal of the night for the Inferno. Jakaitis stopped 23 shots, earning him his first win and shutout. The Inferno outshot the Ice Pilots 31-23 and was 1-for-7 on the power play.

Columbia heads on the bus to Estero, Florida to take on the Florida Everblades for two games, Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10.
