Inferno Adds Strength on Front Line

COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 22, 2006) - Head Coach Troy Mann has announced that veteran right winger Chris Thompson has accepted an invitation to training camp for the 2006-07 season.

The 28-year-old, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native split time between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League and the Trenton Titans of the ECHL. During his time with the Sound Tigers he appeared in 44 games, scoring two goals and had 12 assists for 14 points and added 32 penalty minutes. He played 20 games for the Titans where he scored two goals and seven assists and 34 penalty minutes. Thompson is no stranger to the ECHL. He has played for the Augusta Lynx, Greensboro Generals, Dayton Bombers, Florida Everblades and the Louisiana Ice Gators during his tenure.

"Chris is a valuable addition to our lineup. He is an experienced player who I expect will provide great leadership in our locker room and has a solid two-way game on the ice," said Coach Troy Mann. "His grit, tenacity and willingness to play with an edge will certainly benefit our club this year. I anticipate Chris will be one of our fan favorites this season."
